After graduating with a First Class degree in English Literature & Language at UCL, Richard Davis completed an M.Phil in American Literature at the University of Cambridge. Post university, Richard has spent over 10 years working as a private tutor, teaching both secondary and mature students.
Over the past 3 years, Richard has overseen the rise of Accolade Press: a boutique academic publishing house with over 40 study guides on the market. Many of these books have been authored or co-written by academics from the UK's leading universities.

Can the handwriting-to-text converter read the handwriting of any student accurately?
It is comparable to a human reader: it can decipher most hand-writings, though will sometimes make a good guess when the handwriting is particularly difficult to decipher. We have found that, at times, it delivers better results than a human examiner.

Can Top Marks help teachers identify whether work submitted by students has been AI generated?
Up to a point! There is an ongoing cat-and-mouse game between tools designed to help mask whether text has been generated with AI, and tools designed to identify AI generated text. We have integrated the most advanced AI detectors into Top Marks, and we are continually updating our capabilities to detect generated content.
